Academic Team

Sponsors: TBD
Mission: To provide competitive intellectual outlets for students. To encourage lifelong learning and celebrate academic achievement. To promote a wide base of knowledge, and to represent Kell in local competitions.
Type of Club: Academic
Members: Open to all students. Competitive teams chosen based on regular performance.
Meetings: Mondays after school in room 2210


Anime Club

Sponsors: John McLaughlin
Mission: The Kell H.S. Anime club was created for three purposes: 1.) to establish a community for aficionados of anime or Japanese animation. 2.) to provide a creative outlet for anime artists and writers at KHS. 3.) to foster an appreciation of Japanese popular culture.
Type of Club: Cultural/Interest
Members: All Students are Welcome.
Meetings: Mondays from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm in Media Center or Mrs. Bundschu's Room, Room 2209 (varies during the school year).


BETA Club

Sponsors: Kim Sherman and Davana Silva
Mission: Beta is an Honor society that celebrates academic achievement, volunteer service and leadership.
Type of Club: Service, Leadership, Academic
Members: Sophomores (2nd Semester) or upper with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and teacher recommendation (all academic teachers for the year)
Meetings: Last Tuesday of each Month at either 7:40 am or 3:40 pm in room 2212.


Black Student Union

Sponsors:Jessica Gibson
Mission: To offer a platform where African American, as well as like-minded students, regardless of ethnic and racial background, can come together and bring light and education to their community by promoting cultural education and performing activities that will be proactive in the community leadership, outreach, and ultimately to support and empower each other.

Members: Open to All Students. Team competitors decided by tryouts.

Debate and Speech Team

Mission: To develop public speaking and critical thinking skills and to help students learn research, analysis, teamwork and group problem solving.
Type of Club: Academic Competition

DECA

Sponsors: Michael Chasteen
Mission: DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
Type of Club: Leadership, Academic
Members: Open to all students. 100 registered members with National DECA members.
Meetings: Wednesdays, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in room 1406 and the cafeteria.


Drama Club

Mission: To promote and produce Drama and Theatre Arts at Kell High School.

FCA

FCCLA

Mission: The mission of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education. By focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through career investigation: *Character Development, *Critical and Creative Thinking, *Interpersonal Communication, *Practical Knowledge, * Career Preparation. Fishing Club

Mission: To provide high interest recreational fishing activities structured to support the academic and character development of students while contributing positively to our community and environment.

French Honor Society

Members: Students who have completed 4 semesters of French with a 3.5 in French and 3.0 in all academic areas.

Gay Straight Alliance

Mission: Our Mission is to be an open group to promote equality between homosexual and heterosexual people at Kell High School. Our primary goal supports the mission of the Gay Straight Alliance.
Type of Club: Student Interest Organization
Members: Open to all students willing to show support to our harassed and closeted homosexual community within our school. There is no minimum GPA.
Meetings: Tuesdays 3:45- 4:30 in Room 2202


Gography Team

Mission: To compete in the annual Georgia Geographic Alliance Geography Competition

Members: Open to freshmen, who agree to not only be diligent about participation at the event, but also in attending practices, meetings and individual preparations.

German Club

Habitat for Humanity

Mission: At Habitat for Humanity, we build. We build because we believe that everyone, everywhere, should have a healthy, affordable place to call home. More than building homes, we build communities, we build hope and we build the opportunity for families to help themselves.

Latin Club (Junior Classical League)

Mission: To Foster friendships among Latin students, instill a passion for the language, culture and history of Ancient Greece and Rome and to let others know about Latin’s impact on the modern world.

Members: Open to all; focused toward Latin Students (non-Latin students may not attend trips)

Latin Honor Society

Mission: To recognize exceptional Latin Students.

Members: 3rd and 4th year Latin Students with an A average in Latin, must be a member of JCL (Latin Club).

Math Team

Mission: The mission of the Kell Math Team is to promote the enjoyment of advanced and challenging mathematics by providing students with experiences that enrich the development of advanced problem solving methods.
Type of Club: Academic
Members: Open to all students: Varsity – any student enrolled in Advanced Algebra or higher, JV – 9th and 10th graders not enrolled in a course higher than Advanced Algebra.
Meetings: Wednesdays from 3:30 pm -4:30 pm, Varsity meets in room 1215, JV meets in room 1204.


Model United Nations

Sponsor: Margo Baker
Mission: Model United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about multilateral diplomacy and the processes of the United Nations in General. Students take on roles as delegates of different countries. They research the positions of their country, become the representative of that country to a particular committee, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult and then develop solutions, or resolutions, to solve world problems.

Members: Open to all Students.
Meetings: Every Wednesday @ 3:30 pm in room 2302.


Mu Alpha Theta

Mission: Mu Alpha Theta is a Mathematics Honor Society whose mission is to promote mathematics positively throughout the school.> Type of Club: Academic
Members: Open to students with a 3.0 GPA in math and at least 2 years of high school math credit.

National Art Honor Society (NAHS)

Mission: The NAHS strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of the highest standards in art areas, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and the community.

Members: Open to all art students; overall 3.2 GPA to be inducted.

National Honor Society

Mission: We are mainly involved in finding ways to provide service for the school and the community.
Type of Club: Service, Leadership, Academic, Citizenship
Members: Open to Juniors with 3.85 or greater and Seniors with 3.75 or greater with 3 teacher references. Applicants are required to have at least one example of a leadership position over more than just 1 meeting. At least 10 hours service and must be a member of other organizations.
Meetings: Meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:45 am or 3:40 pm in room 2205.


National Social Studies Honor Society Rho Kappa

Facility Monitor: Jessica Gibson
Mission: Recognize excellence in social studies while promoting an interest in, an understanding of, and appreciation for social studies.
Type of Club: Academic, Citizenship, Leadership
Members: Rho Kappa is open to all juniors and seniors with 3.00 GPA in their social studies courses and an overal GPA of at least 3.5.

National Technical Honor Society

Mission: To recognize student achievement in Career Tech classes.
Type of Club: Service and Academic
Members: Open to any student who has completed 3 career tech classes and carries a GPA of 3.0 or higher in those classes. br> Meetings: Meets first Thursday of every month in room 1406.


Ping Pong Club

Mission: To provide an opportunity for school involvement in a non-competitive athletic activity.

Members: Open to all but limited to a maximum of 12 players per session.
Meetings: Tuesdays from 3:35- 4:45 in the atrium near the English/Science halls.


Prom Committee

Mission: To plan the Junior-Senior Prom.

Reading Bowl

Student Government Association (SGA)

Members: Members of student government are determined through an application process. All meetings are open to anyone wishing to participate.
